Interactive media company RockYou has announced its acquisition of free-to-play social games Solitaire Arena and Solitaire 3 Arena. Developed by MavenHunt, the cross-platform games on Facebook and mobile devices are expected to add over two million daily active players to RockYou’s user base.
This acquisition is part of RockYou’s ongoing strategy of game acquisitions and licensing agreements, which sees the company take over support for games that may otherwise shut down. Last year, the company added games like SGN’s Bingo Blingo, Disney Playdom’s Gardens of Time, Words of Wonder, Kitchen Scramble and City Girl, and Digital Chocolate’s Army Attack, Crazy Penguin Wars, Millionaire City and Zombie Lane to its portfolio.
Solitaire Arena and Solitaire 3 Arena offer competitive multiplayer solitaire experiences, challenging gamers to complete the same hands of solitaire faster than their opponents.
RockYou CEO Lisa Marino told us:
We believe in the value of passionate gamers. They’ve helped us grow our portfolio of well-loved games, and sustain them long after launch. That way, developers can recognize maximum revenue from their creative work, our brand partners can engage with the massive audiences they want to reach, and players can keep enjoying the games they love for years to come.
The financial details of the Solitaire Arena and Solitaire 3 Arena acquisition were not disclosed.
In a statement, MavenHunt CEO Bobby Voicu added:
We love our Solitaire Arena players and the success these games have had in such a short time. We knew that our Solitaire community will be greatly cared for as we transition our focus on developing new titles. We want these classics to live on, and RockYou is enabling us to do just that.
