The Snapchat vs. Facebook war continues, this time with the time-bomb messaging app hiring away Facebook’s Mike Randall, who served as Facebook’s Global Director of the Preferred Marketing Developer program.
TechCrunch reported the story Tuesday, but Randall’s Facebook page shows that he started working with Snapchat as the Vice President of Business and Marketing Partnerships on June 2. A Facebook spokesperson also confirmed the hire.
According to Randall’s LinkedIn page, he joined Facebook in March 2010 as the VP of Marketing Solutions for the Western Region. In August 2013, he was promoted to Global Director of Facebook’s PMD program.
This shows that Snapchat is thinking of ways to monetize the product, and hiring one of the leaders of Facebook’s PMD program gives serious legitimacy to Snapchat’s long-term business prospects.
