According to a report in The Wall Street Journal, the hashtag, a Twitter staple, may be coming to Facebook.
According to a report in The Wall Street Journal, the hashtag, a Twitter staple, may be coming to Facebook.
Sources told the Journal Facebook is working on incorporating hashtags, adding that the feature’s introduction is not imminent, and it was unclear how far along in the process the social network had gone.
Hashtags would enable Facebook to index conversations, possibly aiding its efforts on both the graph search and targeted advertising fronts.
Photo-sharing application Instagram, which was acquired by Facebook last September, already uses hashtags.
