Kal Raman, who joined Groupon in April as senior vice president of global sales and operations, has been promoted to chief operating officer.
The company hasn’t had a COO since September of last year, when Margo Georgiadis left the company on the eve of its IPO to rejoin Google.
“In a very short time, Kal has had a significant impact on increasing the number and quality of local businesses using the Groupon platform,” said CEO Andrew Mason.
Raman joined Groupon from eBay. He previously worked at GlobalScholar, which makes enterprise software for public schools, Amazon and drugstore.com.
