Vice keeps staffing up. ‘Settle in. This latest staff announcement is going to make the collected works of Karl Ove Knausgård feel short,’ wrote Josh Tyrangiel in a memo announcing all the changes and additions. Among the big names are Jay Caspian Kang, who’s coming on as a civil rights correspondent, and Elspeth Reeve and Bijan Stephen, who will cover internet behavior and culture, respectively. Additionally, Isabel Castro moves to HBO Nightly as associate producer, Seth Dalton joins the U.S. team as a producer and Isabel Evans trades PR for a talent/production assistant job…

Katherine Mangu-Ward steps up as editor in chief of Reason. She had been managing editor since 2011. “This is my dream job,” she said in a statement. “I couldn’t be more excited about leading Reason magazine’s incredible team of journalists as we dig deeply into policy and politics, catalog culture in its high and low forms, and serve up a steady stream of smart, skeptical, sassy libertarian analysis.” Current EIC Matt Welch will transition to a an editor at large role… The Financial Times hires Alexandra Scaggs to cover the financial markets and the U.S. economy… Duncan Edwards leaves Hearst International where he had been president and CEO. He’s been with the company for 27 years and will not be replaced…

Arthur Zackiewicz moves up to executive editor of strategic content at WWD. He had been deputy editor of data and analysis, and also worked as a senior editor for WWD and financial editor for Fairchild Publications… TheStreet.com loses editor in chief Jeffrey Kanige, who’s off to be creative director at the company’s branded content division, Blue Chip Content Studio. Managing editor Tara Murphy will take over editorial oversight… Steven Levy returns to the Condé Nast fold as the magazine conglomerate buys Backchannel from Medium. He’ll get an assist from Jessi Hempel, who joins from Wired… The New York Daily News cuts almost two dozen staffers in an effort to save money…

Sumner Redstone fires Viacom CEO Philippe Dauman, along with boardmembers George Abrams, Blythe McGarvie, Frederic Salerno and William Schwartz. The decisions need to be held up in court… Steve Kornacki is getting a new 4 p.m. ET show on MSNBC. The slot is currently filled by MSNBC Live… Greta Brawner is the new managing producer of the event producers unit at C-SPAN. She joined the company in 2007 and will continue as host and senior producer of daily call-in show Washington Journal… Jennifer Enderlin jumps into the publisher spot at St. Martin’s Press. She will continue as editor there…
