Stop the presses? 60/Vanity Fair are out with the results of a brand new poll this morning. The questions are about a random as it gets. Who should create a new national anthem? Their poll says Bruce Springsteen tops the list, followed by Dolly Parton. Madonna comes in last place.
Specifically, 22 percent of Americans say they would choose Springsteen, though Parton gets 19 percent of the vote. Stevie Wonder is a close third (18 percent), followed by Bob Dylan (11 percent), John Williams (10 percent), Jay-Z (8 percent), and Madonna (5 percent).
Also (strangely) in this month’s poll: Americans would feel more comfortable being a judge than being an airport screener, a U.S. Prez or a dictator; many think their ancestors would be most shocked by people’s manners (or lack thereof); and if we could peek in on our own funerals, Americans are most curious about what others would say and, our favorite, how guests would look in the casket.
