Developer Minidragon has released its first game, Rainbowtail, on iOS devices. The match-three RPG takes players to a world filled with talking animals and fantasy creatures, and challenges them to free the land from a villain who has stolen the rainbow.
Each level of Rainbowtail challenges players to complete a different goal, from earning a large number of points or clearing sludge tiles by making matches on top of them, to defeating bosses, as examples. Players make matches by swapping the locations of two touching symbols, with the goal of creating lines of three or more identical gems.
Players have a limited number of moves to complete each level. If they finish the objective before running out of moves, they can continue playing to earn more points, or activate a Rainbow Rush mode which turns extra moves into bonus points automatically. Players earn up to three stars on each level, depending on their final score, and can replay stages to earn missed stars.
After each level, pets receive experience points in relation to the number of gems cleared of their color during the stage. Pets will level up over time, increasing the strength of their abilities, and players have a chance to collect new pets in eggs that appear during some stages. In addition, players can purchase new, and potentially stronger, pets instantly using Gems, the game’s premium currency (Gems are separate from the gem symbols matched during levels). The game features over 150 pets to collect at launch.
Rainbowtail is available to download for free on the iTunes App Store.
