Radio Stations Roll Out Election Night Plans

It may only be a mid-term elections, but don’t tell that to the many city TV and radio stations. Most stations, expecting a late night, are making plans for extended coverage on Tuesday night.

FishbowlNY has obtained details from various media outlets.

  • WABC

The talk station will be live all night with Mark Levin, John Batchelor, and Doug McIntyre. Additionally, WABC will give listeners local updates every quarter hour from co-anchors Ken Duffy and Hilarie Barsky, with reporters in the field throughout the tri-state region.

Steve Scott and Wayne Cabot will anchor coverage beginning at 7 p.m.

They will have veteran reporters Rich Lamb, Peter Haskell, Paul Murnane, Fran Schneidau and John Metaxas from campaign headquarters across the tristate area.

Reporter Steve Knight will be at CBS News Election Headquarters to provide up to the minute information on national races, trends, and exiting polling. In addition, Lee Miringhoff from Marist will be in the studio offering political insight.

  • WINS

Coverage is anchored by Larry Kanter and Paul James. Senior correspondent Stan Brooks will be at Cuomo headquarters.

The city’s other all-news station will be in election mode all day, but their wall to wall coverage gets started at 9 p.m.

They will focus on the local races with reporters in New York, Long Island, Connecticut.

WINS also will use correspondents to cover the mid-term elections in the close contests across the country.
