Aspiring TV writers, listen up: a Quora answer is being pitched as a potential TV series. Variety first reported the news that an answer from the Q&A social network has been optioned by Emmy-winning producer Josh C. Kline. Kline, in addition to his production projects, is the head of media and entertainment at Box.
The Quora answer that caught Kline’s eye was in response to the question: “If every state of the USA declared war against each other, which would win?” Jon Davis, a former Marine, wrote a fictional account of the scenario. His 6,000-plus word answer details “the Second American Civil War, also known as the Wars of Reunification and the American Warring States Period” and got 1,500-plus upvotes.
“The story just pulled me in and the guy’s voice was so interesting that right away I could see it being a film project,” Kline told Variety.
Here’s an excerpt of Davis’ answer:
After the breakup many wondered which states would come out in control of the power void created by the dissolution of the United States. There were many with little chance against several of the larger more powerful states. The states in possession of a large population, predisposition for military bases and a population open to the idea of warfare fared the best. In the long term we would look to states with self-sufficiency and long term military capabilities.
Here are the states that held the greatest strategic value from day one. They have the ability to be self-sufficient, economic strength, military strength, the will to fight and the population to support a powerful war machine.
