Quartz Adds 3

Youyou Zhou, Sushma Udipi Nagendran and McKinley Noble join the publication

Quartz has added three members to its team, all based out of different locations.

Youyou Zhou joins the New York office on May 30 as a visual journalist. She joins from the Associated Press, where she was a digital news developer, focusing on design and graphics for AP’s campaign-related coverage during the 2016 election season.

Quartz India adds Sushma Udipi Nagendran as a Chennai-based reporter who will be covering a development-related trio of retail, startups and clean energy. While in the past half-decade she has been working in journalism outlets that included The Times of India, The Hindu Business Line and Dow Jones’ MarketWatch, she comes to journalism by way of a sociology background.

McKinley Noble, who is based out of San Francisco, joins May 30 as a writer for the Quartz app, which provides text/chat-like updates on news. He arrives from GoPro, where he was a proofreader. Prior to that, he had been a search editor at Yahoo and a newsroom editor at Business Wire before then.
