While the Facebook bubble game craze has lessened in recent months, players still have plenty of games to choose from, which provide new bubble popping opportunities. 6waves’ Bubble Legend, for instance, allows players to pop bubbles in a blitz style, racing against the clock to earn points before time runs out.
In each round of Bubble Legend, players shoot bubbles at large bubble formations at the top of the screen. By connecting three or more like-colored bubbles, players destroy those orbs and earn points, and will eventually cause the entire board to shift down, revealing more bubbles in different colors.
As expected, players are encouraged to bank shots off of the walls to hit bubbles at the top of the formation. When these are destroyed, any bubbles “hanging onto them” will disappear as well for more points. In addition, users rack up combo bonuses for making multiple bubble matches in rapid succession, without missing a shot.
Each game’s points are compared against friends at the end of each game, and the leaderboards reset every few days to encourage users to keep coming back to beat their friends.
Eventually, players will start collecting Starlight pieces from destroyed bubbles. These are used to rescue up to 20 creatures, which have been trapped in crystals. Creatures also cost coins to use, but these are earned for free by simply playing the game. Players can also purchase coins (and a premium currency, Gems) with real money, to skip ahead fast, or to keep using their favorite creatures when their coins run low.
Each creature changes the game in some way, and comes with a special power move, which is activated by achieving a large shot combo. Fuego, for instance, is a fire creature which costs 600 coins per game to use, but also allows players to shoot vertical lines of fire at bubbles when his power his full.
Separate power-ups round out the experience, giving players more time on the clock, the ability to miss a shot and still retain an active combo, and so on. Bubble Legend is now available to play for free on Facebook. The game has over 416,000 monthly active players, according to AppData, our tracking service for mobile and social apps and developers.
