Politico Executive Editor Becomes Its President and CEO

Jim VandeHei also named CEO of Capital New York

Politico co-founder Jim VandeHei is hanging up his executive editor hat to become the publication's president and CEO.

In addition to his new role at Politico, VandeHei was named CEO of Allbritton's recently acquired website, Capital New York. VandeHei was already president of that site.

Allbritton described the business move as a "seminal moment" for himself, Politico and VandeHei.

"We are on the verge of the most dynamic growth in our young history—and this demands an equally dynamic leader and thinker guiding us," Allbritton said in a statement.
