<em>Politico</em> Announces Four New Hires

As Politico loses two significant employees in the past two weeks -- reporter Andy Barr and Deputy Managing Editor Erika Compart -- today they announce the hiring of four new employees. They include Elizabeth Breckenridge, Director of Administration, Josh Boak, an economics reporter, and two new lobbying reporters David Levinthal and Anna Palmer. See the memo from Asst. Prior to joining POLITICO, Elizabeth was on Capitol Hill for nearly five years working for Sens. Evan Bayh and Joe Manchin. Elizabeth is a graduate of Indiana University's School of Public and Environmental Affairs and is originally from St. Louis. Having lived in D .C . for more than seven years, she remains a devoted St. Louis Cardinals fan. In her spare time, Elizabeth enjoys long-distance runs, mainly to offset her sweet tooth. Josh Boak, economics reporter. Josh was previously a reporter on the staffs of The Chicago Tribune and The Toledo Blade. Educated at Princeton and Columbia, Josh received the Livingston Award for a series about the Ohio economy and shared recognition as a Pulitzer finalist for his articles about troubling investments made by that state’s government. He most recently worked as a researcher/reporter on Bob Woodward's book “Obama's Wars” and spent time freezing in the Afghan desert for The Washington Post. He is a sucker for Spanish bicycles and considers the most underrated James Bond flick to be “On Her Majesty's Secret Service.” Dave Levinthal, lobbying reporter. Before joining POLITICO, Dave worked for two years as editor of OpenSecrets.org at the Center for Responsive Politics, where he oversaw the Center’s original journalism and provided analysis to print and broadcast media. Between 2003 and 2009, Dave reported on Dallas City Hall for the Dallas Morning News, and from 2000 to 2002 covered New Hampshire politics and state government for the Lawrence (Mass.) Eagle-Tribune. He graduated from Syracuse University with degrees in newspaper journalism and political philosophy and edited the Daily Orange. A Buffalo, N.Y., native, he’s a proud Bills fan. Anna Palmer, lobbying reporter. Anna joins POLITICO from Roll Call, where she reported on House leadership and lobbying. Previously, she spent nearly three years at Legal Times covering the intersection of money and politics, first as a staff writer and later as an editor. Prior to that, Anna covered the lobbying business as a reporter for Influence, an industry newsletter. Anna is a graduate of St. Olaf College, where she was executive editor of the weekly campus newspaper, the Manitou Messenger. She also is an avid defender of all things “flyover country” given her home state of North Dakota. Stop by and say hello.
