Plants vs. Zombies 2 Receives Neon Mixtape Tour: Side B Update

The game's second 1980s content update features new levels, as well as new zombies and plants.

Following the release of the first 1980s content update in Plants vs. Zombies 2 at the end of August, EA Mobile has announced the release of a second: Neon Mixtape Tour: Side B. The update introduces a new set of plants, zombies and levels to players, as well as a Greatest Hits Endless Zone.

This update features 16 new levels, including a battle with Dr. Zomboss and the Zombot Multistage Masher. Players will encounter three new zombies in these stages, including the Boombox Zombie, Breakdancer Zombie and Arcade Zombie. To be specific, the Breakdancer Zombie will spin on his head to his favorite song, while the Arcade Zombie uses an arcade cabinet to absorb damage and spawn three additional kinds of 8-bit zombies.

Since this update focuses heavily on music, two new tracks have been added to the game’s soundtrack, and when these are played, the matching zombies react and may become more powerful for a limited time.

In addition to these new enemy types, players have access to four new plants, including the Sporeshroom, which spawns after killing a zombie, Garlic, which forces zombies to change lanes after its attacked and Intensive Carrot, an instant-use plant that can revive another plant which was destroyed by zombies. The fourth plant, the Electric Blueberry, is a new premium option, which instantly electrocutes and kills a random zombie every few seconds.

Plants vs. Zombies 2 is available to download for free on the iTunes App Store and Google Play. The game has been downloaded more than 100 million times since its release in 2013.
