MyndBee has officially launched its Picpal social selfie collage app on iOS and Android devices. The app allows users to create spontaneous selfie collages with up to three of their contacts, regardless of their location.
Users begin by connecting to their Facebook account, and can invite friends via Facebook or text message. Once these friends also download Picpal, the original user can invite them to one or more collage projects. The initial user takes a selfie, and the invited contacts have one day to respond with their own.
Users can take multiple pictures until they find one they’re satisfied with, and pictures can be cropped or edited with filters and other visual enhancements. Users can also draw on their selfies, or add short text phrases to their pictures.
Users can view their collages on the app’s home feed, and will see their friends’ contributions appear in real time as they respond to invitations. Friends can post likes or comments on each collage, and finished collages can be shared to Instagram or Facebook, among other options.
In a statement, Mahesh Rajagopalan, co-founder of Picpal, commented:
Social networking has revolutionized the way we document our lives. Picpal expands the horizon of these social documentation possibilities. Instead of passive interactions such as social sharing, liking or commenting, we sought to focus on social content creation among friends. With Picpal, we’ve created an authentic experience, connecting friends and families more intimately in real-time, no matter where they are.
