Pia Catton to Join WSJ's New Metro Section

New York Sun alumna and Politico features editor Pia Catton is joining The Wall Street Journal as the head arts and leisure reporter for its new Metro section, the paper announced today. Effective March 29, Catton will be reporting to John Seeley, who also worked at the Sun before the paper shuttered in 2008. In addition to the Sun and Politico, she has worked for the New York Post and the Weekly Standard. The Journal has dug deep into the ranks of former Sun employees. The paper has reportedly hired Jacob Gershman, Kate Taylor, Erica Orden and Ryan Sager, all of whom have previously worked for the Sun. NEW YORK, March 19, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Wall Street Journal today appointed Pia Catton as the leading arts and leisure reporter for the eagerly awaited New York section, scheduled to launch next month. Ms. Catton's appointment is effective March 29. Ms. Catton will be involved in all areas of arts and leisure coverage for the New York section. Ms. Catton will report to John Seeley, editor of the New York section for The Wall Street Journal. About Ms. Catton Most recently, Ms. Catton was the features editor at Politico, a role she's held since June 2009. In this role, Ms. Catton was responsible for editing stories related to the lighter side of politics. Prior to joining Politico, Ms. Catton was the culture editor at the New York Sun newspaper for two years. During her tenure at the New York Sun from 2002 until 2008, she served as a reporter, features editor, and dance critic before editing the arts coverage. From 1998 until 2000, Ms. Catton was a member of the New York Post's editorial page and a contributor to the features pages. She began her work in political journalism at the Weekly Standard, to which she contributes occasional articles about the arts. Ms. Catton is the co-editor of "Be Thrifty! (Not Cheap)"-forthcoming from Workman Publishing in May 2010- a lifestyle guide to saving money and living well.
