Photo/Design/Art Fame in Three Easy Steps

fame awaits you.jpg

UnBeige, you ask, how can I parlay my photo/design/art savvy into fame and/or fortune (beyond redesigning your web banner)? We’re glad you asked! Today we bring you three new contest-y ways to get noticed. All we ask is that you thank us in your acceptance speech (we would also acccept a lifetime supply of Cadbury Mini Eggs or the full 156-color set of Prismacolor markers).

1. Submit your work for consideration to the New York Photo Awards, the official awards of the brand, spanking new New York Photo Festival. Honoring talented photographers from all over the world whose work breaks new grounds visually, intellectually, and aesthetically, the awards are “a celebration of outstanding achievements in the world of contemporary photography.” Beyond the oodles of media exposure, all winners and those honorably mentioned will be eligible for inclusion in the New York Photo Awards Annual (it’s sure to be spectacular: powerHouse Books is publishing). All the details here.

2. Enter Blurb‘s just-announced Photography.Book.Now competition. Grand prize is $25,000. Deadline is Bastille Day. Details here. Enough said.

3. Apply to parade around with Jeffrey Deitch, Creative Time, Paper magazine, and a cast of thousands in the fourth annual Art Parade. Today Deitch Projects announced an open call for artists, performers, and designers to create floats, placards, portable sculptures, kites (ooh, kites!), performances, and street spectacles in its 2008 Art Parade on Saturday, September 6 in New York City. Proposals are due by July 1, and all the details are here.

Bonne chance!
