An intrepid FishbowlNY tipster alerted us about this last week. Today, it’s official, via the sharing of an internal People memo:
I am happy to announce the promotions of Leah Ginsburg to executive editor and Kristen Maxwell to deputy editor of People StyleWatch.
Since joining StyleWatch, Leah has seamlessly picked up the StyleWatch voice, produced new pages and overseen the monthly closes. In her new role, she will also be responsible for managing the writing and reporting teams, top editing, packaging stories and further developing integration across all sectors of the StyleWatch brand.
Kristen has proven herself to be a true StyleWatch Renaissance woman, from overseeing Celeb Style Council our multi-platform franchise, to feature writing, photo editing, idea generation and packaging. She has been responsible for some of our top rated pages: Who Got it Right, You Got it Right and Your Go To Style Guide.
In her new role, Kristen will take on more top editing responsibility, story idea generation and packaging, while continuing to oversee StyleCouncil and other special projects.
Meanwhile, an even bigger appointment on the Vanity Fair side. Katherine Goldstein is coming over from Slate to serve as editor of VF.com. From today’s announcement:
“Katherine’s interests run the gamut from photojournalism to digital media to climate change, and I very much look forward to bringing her point of view to VF.com,” Graydon Carter said. “As I understand it, she will also serve as our introduction to indie-rock royalty.”
Ha ha. You’ve got to love Carter; even in a rote press release, he finds a way to add some VIP panache. Goldstein, who is married to Dismemberment Plan lead singer Travis Morrison, will report to digital director Mike Hogan. She starts June 9.
