Eddie Roche, deputy editor for The Daily Front Row, got his hands on a February 9 Time Inc. memo announcing the appointment of an additional deputy editor at People magazine. Per the announcement, Dan Wakeford is joining the publication in that capacity, effective immediately:
Editorial director Jess Cagle said: “Wakeford will oversee all human-interest, service and royals content for the brand. Deputy editor JD Heyman will continue to oversee all entertainment content — including the Picks and Scoop sections, which he has added to his portfolio.”
The New York-based Wakeford has a long and impressive celebrity news magazine resume. He has served as EIC of both In Touch Weekly and Life & Style, and worked for British newspapers The Sun and Daily Mirror. He most recently helped with the launch of Hello! magazine’s U.S. website.
