Brunei Penal Codes Cause Orgs to Cancel Plans with Beverly Hills Hotel

2010-08-25 THR SketchThe Hollywood Reporter announced that it would end a 20 year tradition of hosting its annual Women in Entertainment breakfast at the Beverly Hills Hotel yesterday. The hotel is owned by an investment agency through the Sultan of Brunei, who instituted “a severe new penal code based on Sharia law that calls for death by stoning for homosexuals and adulterers.”
