We have already made clear (probably more than once) our fondness for Peggy Noonan. And now over Forbes.com Tunku Varadarajan is singing her praises, too, though he’s also giving Rupert Murdoch credit for plucking Noonan from the “backwaters of the Weekend section” and “enthroning” her Declarations column on the paper’s op-ed page” a decision that’s also paid off for Murdoch where she is writing the “prose of her life.”
Here is what makes her so attractive to open-minded readers, and so infuriating to Movement Conservatives, who dismiss her as too blousy she makes her point in a way that captures the humanity of its context. This isn’t punditry, de haut en bas, but engagement with the reader, with the reader’s milieu with America.
Also, she rocked Jon Stewart a few weeks back.
