Facebook announced that it is scrapping the emails that it sends to developers containing information about payments, replacing it with a payments reporting application-programming interface that has already gone live.

The social network called the payments reporting API “more reliable, secure, and flexible,” and it said it plans to add support for local currency later this year.

Here are more details from a post on the Facebook developer blog:

Reliability: The payments reporting API is more reliable and has built-in checks to make sure you receive all of the data.

Security: The payments reporting API can be downloaded securely via https using an OAuth-secured HTTP interface.

Flexibility: Our new report is formatted as a structured csv file, instead of the former flat tsv file.
