AOL CEO Tim Armstrong, speaking at the company’s Analyst Day, said that “certain” Patch outlets should be profitable by the end of the year.
He declined to offer specifics, paidContent reports.
In the meantime, Patch will be working with Geomentum, a hyperlocal ad agency that will “steer its clients through the creation of locally-versioned, hyperlocal advertising campaigns on Patch sites.”
Also during Analyst Day, Huffington said, essentially, that AOL has too many freelancers. That makes it difficult to control what’s going up on AOL branded sites. “When you hire professional journalists, it becomes easier to manage both,” she said.
