Pasadena Begins Digitizing Its History

Pasadena’s various cultural institutions have a cool endeavor in the works. The Pasadena Public Library, Pasadena Museum of History, Pasadena City College and Huntington Library have begun work on a collaborative new digital archive called the Pasadena Digital History Collaboration. The site–pasadenadigitalhistory.com– is free and open to the public and is an attempt to create a digital repository for Pasadena’s historical documents. Researchers, journalists and history buffs alike will now have easy access to important primary documents.

So far upwards of 4,000 documents and images have been uploaded to the site. Not a bad start. But project organizers have a looooong way to go. The Pasadena Museum of History alone has over 1 million photos in its collection.

Happy digitizing!
