O'Rourke v. Fallows
PJ O’Rourke did an extended interview yesterday on C-SPAN2’s Book TV program “In Depth” program. About 15 minutes in, he takes a shot at James Fallows, who, back in 1991, said the following about him in the Washington Monthly:
When [P.J. O’Rourke] lacks reporting, he falls back on wisecracks and pat attitudes, and when forced to choose between making a joke and conveying a less snappy truth, he usually goes for the laugh.
On C-SPAN, O’Rourke responds:
WELL, JIM HAS GOT ME NAILED DEAD TO THE RIGHTS THERE, AND JIM, IF YOU ARE LISTENING, WHEN JIM LACKS REPORTING, HE FALLS BACK ON SERIOUSNESS.
