The Oregon House of Representatives will hear a bill Friday that would prevent employers from demanding that job applicants reveal their passwords to Facebook and other social networks.
The Oregonian reported that House Bill 2654, sponsored by Rep. Margaret Doherty (D-Tigard), does not apply to content freely available over the Internet, but the bill is aimed at preventing potential employers from reviewing applicants’ social media histories.
Colorado began considering a similar bill last month, and states that passed similar legislation in 2012 were:
