Oops! Sen. Durbin Confuses Daily Caller for Daily Cholera

A scene from Capitol Hill on Thursday in the Senate Radio TV studio in the Capitol:

A TWT columnist was trying to ask Sen Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) about his effort to curb “swipe fees” for debit cards that banks charge retailers. The female columnist cited a story that said WalMart had put money into Illinois and that was why they were getting alleged special treatment.

She was trying to cite a story in The Daily Caller. Funny thing was, Durbin couldn’t understand: “Daily Choleral?”, he asked. He then got all jokey, citing Daily Cholera as a good source of information for reporters. Durbin claimed not to have heard of The Daily Caller. When reporters informed him that it was an online news outlet similar to HuffPost, he cracked, “Tucker…c’mon”.

(If The Daily Caller‘s Editor-in-Chief Tucker Carlson has a comment, we’ll bring it to you soon.)

> Update: The Daily Caller‘s spokeswoman, Becca Glover Watkins, had this to say: “I had heard that clip too. What I thought was interesting was that another reporter said ‘they’ve got some good reporters’ or something to that extent at the end of that clip. For the reporter to compliment our reporters that way enforces the idea that we’re reporting straight stories and bringing on reporters who do their jobs well.”
