Online Ad Spending Will Increase Next Year

According to Internet marketing company eMarketer, online ad spending is expected to increase 5.5% in 2010 after falling 4.6 percent this year. That’s a healthy chunk of change: $23.6 billion.

If you hadn’t figured it out already, buyers and planners are going to want to add digital to their toolbox of skills.

Social media spending (on Facebook and Myspace) will increase by 7 percent, so learn about ad targeting (and don’t do that thing where you suggest a married guy dates his wife, although in the advertiser’s favor, at least it was his wife).
