Facebook began testing an On This Day feature as early as July 2013, confirming last November that its tests were complete. The social network officially rolled out the feature Tuesday.
Some Facebook users began seeing On This Day tabs in their News Feed menus in July 2013, and the social network included questions about On This Day in a News Feed survey that September.
Testing continued through November 2014, when Facebook confirmed to Inside Facebook (which is now part of SocialTimes) that the process had been completed.
Facebook said in a Newsroom post Tuesday that On This Day will be rolling out on Web and mobile “in the coming days,” allowing users to revisit their own posts or posts on their News Feeds from the same date in previous years.
