Unigine Corp. has today announced the launch of Oil Rush, its naval combat game for iOS devices. The game sees players entering a world where nuclear war has caused the ice caps to melt, changing the layout of the planet, which is now greatly covered in water.

Oil Rush sees the last global super powers fighting over the planet’s few remaining supplies of oil, and challenges players to capture floating production platforms for their own use. The more production platforms players capture, the more “black gold” they can provide to their naval and air units.

The game’s campaign spans 15 missions with many different themes, including oil retrieval, boss fights, rescue missions, tower defense and more. Unigine expects the campaign to last players 10 hours, but that could vary depending on each player’s use of offensive and defensive weapons.

These weapons can be upgraded over time, as players fill out a tech tree with “super technologies,” including nuclear weapons, napalm, convertiplanes and submarines, among others.

Outside of the main campaign, Oil Rush offers 15 quick-game maps for battling against up to three AI opponents. The game’s environments include flooded jungles, sunken cities, Asian villages, canyons, ruined industrial zones and more.

Oil Rush is now available to download on iPhone and iPad for $4.99. Check back soon to follow the game’s progress on AppData, our tracking service for mobile and social apps and developers.
