Lionel Richie’s Daughter Set to Cover First Issue of Popular Magazine

Quarterly publication part of a new digital-print brand from the founders of Nylon magazine.

The quarterly print magazine, with Sofia Richie (pictured) on the cover, arrives this spring; the digital channel is live now. Both are part of a new enterprise overseen by Nylon magazine husband-and-wife co-founders Jaclynn Jarrett and Marvin Scott Jarrett.

The tagline for Popular is “the anti-social network,” which Scott Jarrett explains “promotes individualism. It’s irreverent.”

Among the video series launching on Popular is music news-centric The Queue hosted by Brandi Cyrus, beauty-focused Kiss Off with Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams, culture show Runaway with model Cailin Russo and style show Denim Hunters. All the shows and editorial content will be short and snappy with a mobile audience in mind.

The new publication is headquartered in Los Angeles, with an office in New York. Total start-up staff is 12 and includes former Teen Vogue editor Mary Kate Steinmiller.
