NYC Will Celebrate Foursquare Day on April 16

New York’s Mayor Michael Bloomberg has declared this Saturday, April 16 Foursquare Day, joining 13 other cities that have installed their own Foursquare commemorative day. (Have we mentioned that every day seems to be a special commemorative day?) Foursquare Day got its start last year.

Mashable notes that Foursquare is a New York-based startup, so there’s a bit of a plug for the NYC tech scene going on here.

Interestingly, ReadWriteWeb already has a column up calling 2011 “The Year the Check-In Died,” which doesn’t mean Foursquare and its competitors will disappear.
