For those of you who buy The New York Times from your local bodega, we have some good news. Starting today, the print edition will include an offer for a free, one day all-access pass to nytimes.com and all Times apps.
All you have to do is buy the paper (and a pack of mints, because yes, you need them) and check inside for the code that will be sent via text. Once you send the code, a link will be sent back which will allow you to access to the site and apps.
The digital day pass is a smart move by the Times. It exposes print readers to the joys of the digital product. The hope is that some of those people then end up subscribing.
