NY Times Names Dean Chang Metro Print Editor

The New York Times has tapped Dean Chang to be its Metro section print editor. Chang most recently served as Times’ city editor. He previously worked for The New York Daily News.

In a memo announcing the move, Wendell Jamieson, the Times’ Metro editor, wrote that the addition of a print editor means other editors will focus exclusively on digital.

“One goal is to make our online/mobile report seamless and energetic, with stories that are written and edited and posted when appropriate, not when the print deadlines require them to be,” wrote Jamieson, in the note which was obtained by Capital New York. “But I think this will improve our beautiful and crucial print section as well. With one person focusing on the paper all day, we’ll get pages that flow with logic and power from front to back, and achieve our oft-stated goal: ‘Every page a dress page.'”
