NSFW: Topless Woman Angers Facebook Onion Fans

A new article which included an image of a topless woman appears to have angered a number of users who were at work when the revealing image suddenly popped up in their news feed.

Topless WomanA little nudity goes a long way toward showing stirring up controversy, including a fair amount of anger. The Onion’s fan page posting of a blurb linking to “Poll Finds Majority of Male Voters Would Have Elected Naked Woman” got about 2,392 likes and 767 comments as of 11:11 am EST.

The blurb on the Facebook fan page only had the lead paragraph of the story:

A CNN/Gallup Poll released Monday revealed that a vast majority of registered male voters would have strongly supported a naked woman in the 2010 midterm elections.

To get the rest of the article, you have to click on the link embedded in the lead paragraph, taking you to the Onion’s webpage. Apparently, that one-sentence lead was enough to get people going. Surprisingly, the reactions didn’t necessarily fit gender stereotypes.

One female poster shrewdly asks:

Is this a form of protest from The Onion or a publicity stunt?

A gentleman astutely points out:

anyone who wants to report this, do the following. Click on “the onion” above the picture of the nude girl, this will take you to the onions main page, then scroll down to “report page” on the left hand side. there is a specific box to report pornography.

Other responses to the post include many follow-up jokes:

Looks like she needed some support! 😉
