NPR Names Edith Chapin Executive Editor

Her appointment is effective immediately.

NPR has named Edith Chapin executive editor. Chapin was most recently interim executive editor, filling the void left by Madhulika Sikka, who departed a few months ago.

Before serving as interim executive editor, Chapin was NPR’s senior supervising editor of its international desk. Chapin joined NPR in 2012.

“As NPR’s senior supervising editor of the International Desk, Edith led a team of remarkable journalists during pivotal world events and crises,” wrote NPR senior VP of news and editorial director Michael  Oreskes, in a  memo.
