NPR Adds 3 Hosts to All Things Considered

Ari Shapiro and Kelly McEvers will join as weekday hosts and Michel Martin as weekend host.

Less than two weeks after NPR announced All Things Considered host Melissa Block was leaving the program, the organization has announced the addition of three new hosts to its ATC lineup. In September, Ari Shapiro and Kelly McEvers will join as weekday hosts and Michel Martin as weekend host.

Kelly McEvers, currently NPR’s national desk correspondent and previously the Peabody Award-winning head of the Beirut bureau, delivers a first for All Things Considered. She will anchor from NPR West, giving the show its first “bicoastal presence,” according to the announcement.

NPR lifer Ari Shapiro, who started there as an intern, is leaving his London correspondent post to anchor the show in Washington, D.C. alongside co-hosts Audie Cornish and Robert Siegel.

Michel Martin, previously host of the cancelled-before-its-time program Tell Me More, will continue to host live series Michel Martin: Going There in addition to her new weekend hosting duties.

There are changes on the production side as well:

  • Carline Watson has been named weekday executive producer. She was previously executive producer of Tell Me More
  • Kenya Young has been named weekend executive producer. She is currently the acting supervising editor of Morning Edition.
