After first offering his resignation and having Poynter editor Julie Moos refuse to accept it, Jim Romenesko has now officially resigned, Poynter reports.
This is just seven weeks before he was due to semi-retire anyway.
“I’ve had a great dozen years at Poynter, and I look forward to my next chapter,” Romenesko said in an email to Poynter. “Thanks to Karen Dunlap, Bill Mitchell, Julie Moos, Jim Naughton and the rest of the crew.”
“This really did throw me for a loop,” he told the New York Times.
Editor Moos added: “We will change the blog’s name in the coming days, but Romenesko will remain an important part of Poynter’s legacy, one we value.”
Well, that’s that, then.
