Facebook is testing a completely overhauled version of its notifications tab for its flagship mobile applications.
Facebook is testing a completely overhauled version of its notifications tab for its flagship mobile applications, the social network confirmed to Mashable.
According to Mashable, the new notifications tab being tested is made up of eight sections:
- Birthdays
- Life Events
- Events
- Nearby Places
- Trending Topics
- News Shared Locally (publicly shared news popular in the user’s city)
- Today in the Past (posts and photos from the same day in prior years, based on users liking or commenting on them and how popular they were with friends)
- Nearby Friends
Mashable said users can choose whether to see more or less of these eight sections in the current version being tested, adding that Today in the Past differs from the On This Day feature the social network launched last month because Today in the Past also displays posts from friends.
