North Jersey Media Group to Cut 200 Staffers

Yikes.

The layoffs we expected to come to North Jersey Media Group are here, and they’re going to be massive. Now under the Gannett umbrella, NJMG will cut roughly 200 staffers by November as part of a reorganization.

By the end of the week, 426 staffers will get notice that layoffs are coming. Of those, only half will be retained via new editorial and business roles.

In a statement, editor and vp of content Richard Green tried his best to put a positive spin on the cuts.

“This is not merely a restructure, but a bold, ambitious vision to make North Jersey Media Group even more competitive in the metro New York City market.
