Nokia announced some “organizational” changes in the company, which appear to be mostly on the order of employee firings.
The company said in a statement that they’ll be laying off about 450 in the Markets unit and about 130 at the Nokia Research Center. They’ll also be closing down the Turku site in Finland and relocate the 220 employees there to Salo. Finally, the company plans to make some “smaller workforce adjustments in global process operations” that will “affect” about 35 people.
Last month, Nokia released its anticipated Comes With Music mobile service in Europe to mostly positive reviews. There’s still no word on whether Nokia plans to bring the service over here to compete with Sprint Music, Verizon V CAST music, and other over-the-air mobile music services.
