Continuing its push into the mobile content space, Nokia has opened a research lab in Hollywood in order to work more closely with people in the media and entertainment industry, according to MocoNews. That includes search for creative talent and being near both universities and technology companies.
“It offers exactly the right ingredients for research into topics that will be vital for Nokia’s business in the future,” the company said in a statement. “Our research work will focus on mixed reality experiences, with a strong community flavor. We will develop new user interfaces that fully explore the role of the human body and human motion for more natural forms of interaction. Mobile devices will play a central role in this.”
Over the past year, Nokia has relaunched its N-Gage mobile gaming platform, launched the Ovi mobile media brand in Europe, and launched its new XPressMusic handsets that support the company’s unique Comes With Music service.
