NEW YORK Parents have a new option for short-term babysitting. Nickelodeon has launched its first mobile Web site — wap.Nick.com — one of three sites being rolled out by the Nickelodeon/MTVN Kids and Family Group.
The new mobile version of Nick.com, like its Web forerunner, will be heavy on games, ranging from classics like Tic-Tac-Toe and Hangman as well as Nickelodeon-branded fare like Avatar: The Last Airbender game and a SpongeBob SquarePants personality quiz.
In addition, Nickelodeon plans to launch various mobile tie-ins to the network’s programming, including mini-sites centered on the 2008 Kids’ Choice Awards and an upcoming SpongeBob movie.
Also on the youth front, Nickelodeon is launching a mobile offshoot of its teen network The N sometime in the second quarter. The mobile version of The N will also offer games along with various community/social features, including the daily N’Sider blog.
Lastly, Nickelodeon/MTVN Kids and Family Group will unveil a mobile version of its parent-targeted ParentsConnect.com in the third quarter of this year. That site will offer service oriented content along the lines of daily parenting tips and information on local kid-friendly activities from the Nickelodeon-owned GoCityKids.com.
