Nick Jonas and Quaker Chewy Are Looking for a Superstar

Nick Jonas, the Jonas Brother, and Quaker Chewy Granola Bars are throwing a singing contest!

Today was the launch of the Quaker Chewy Superstar Search, a summertime contest seeking singing talent between the ages of eight and 14 years old. The winner gets a contract with Jonas Group Management, the chance to record a song with Nick Jonas, $5,000, and a music video that will air online (with a clip appearing on TV). Edelman is helping with the effort.

This is the first time that Quaker Chewy has ever done a contest. According to Shira Schwarz, marketing manager for the company, “Quaker Chewy believes in helping kids and providing opportunities for creativity.” In addition, moms and kids can have some together time while they’re recording their submissions to the contest.

After the jump, a short and shaky video of the Jonas on stage, and a couple snapshots from the launch event in NYC’s Times Square.

In addition to online submissions, there’s the Quaker Chewy Mobile Recording Studio that will travel to eight cities that can be used to record submissions that will also be sent to the performers after it’s recorded.

Little Kids Rock, a nonprofit organization that promotes music education, also gets a shout out on the campaign’s website, and the kids in the audience represented the organization. One of them made a good show of it, barking at one point when Jonas mentioned his dog. He fully appreciated the interruption.
