News Notes: Politico Edition

Politico executive editor Jim VandeHei has been elected to the Pulitzer Prize Board. He is the first member of the Pulitzer Board from a primarily online news outlet. “In many ways, the Pulitzer Board is on the same mission as POLITICO: to embrace new media while fighting to protect the highest standards for writing, reporting and accuracy. I am honored to be a part of this effort,” VandeHei said in a piece by colleague Micheal Calderone.

• Kim Kingsley has been prompted to executive vice president and general manager of Politico. VandeHarris’ memo to the staff is after the jump. Congrats Kim!

It’s a broad title that reflects her broad role here. She will continue to oversee our media and special projects division. But in addition, Kim will oversee all of our daily and long-term operations and manage the collaborative efforts of the editorial, business and technical teams. Kim has our full support and backing in streamlining and sharpening our entire operation.

From day one, Kim has been an indispensable leader of this place. This elevated role will allow her to apply her expertise and competence to every part of the organization. Please join us in congratulating her.
