New Yorker (What Else Is New?), Economist Among Best Magazine Covers; Bush Caricatures Dominate Winners

It’s no secret magazines like making fun of the president. So it came as no surprise that the American Magazine Conference closed today in Phoenix with the unveiling of the best magazine covers of the year, with three Bush parodies among the winners. Like all awards programs entered by the New Yorker, the iconic magazine with the illustrated covers dominated the inaugural competition, taking two of the seven cover awards, including its Brokeback Mountain spoof — featuring George Bush and Dick Cheney as gay cowboys — ahs well as cover of the year for its Katrina-themed “Flood in the Oval Office.”
