'New York Times' Solves The Case of the Cancelled Subscription Emails

The New York Times did a little digging and they’ve solved the mysterious case of today’s “spam” emails: They sent them by accident.

On a slow news day, just about anything will get people’s attention. Today, 8.6 million people got an email saying that their subscription to the Times had been cancelled. Something to tweet about! Which people did in abundance. We got a tip that the Times was the victim of a “massive scam.” Somewhere else we saw that the Times was hacked.
