Fritzie Andrade has been named director of video at New York media, a role that will have her overseeing a team of ten producers as she sets strategy for New York media’s video output and works on creating original serial content for Vulture, the Cut, Daily Intelligencer, Select All and Grub Street.
For two of those brands, the pop culture-focused Vulture and fashion-focused the Cut, that will also involve wandering into new social territory, as the two brands have signed on to create original content for Watch, Facebook’s new home for original programming.
“Our focus with video now is creating premium series for multiple platforms,” says digital editor Ben Williams in a statement. “Fritzie’s creative talent and experience with developing video for different brands within a network makes her the ideal person to lead that evolution.”
Andrade joins from Gizmodo Media Group, where she held a similar role as executive video director, creating content for GMG’s network of sites, including Gizmodo and Jezebel, as well as for Fusion television. She joined GMG by way of Gawker Media, which she joined in April 2016 before Gawker Media was purchased by Univision and turned into the Gizmodo Media Group. Prior to that, she had served as editor in chief of travel for Vice Media and as a video producer at The New York Times.
