New York Gets '.NYC' Domain

The city’s residents and businesses have a new way to make their websites stick out: The “.nyc” domain. Michael Bloomberg just announced that the geographical web address has been approved, which will allow people and companies to boast about their city roots. Want to be lookatmybutt.nyc? Have at it.

To register, applicants must have a primary residence — or a “bona fide presence” — in NYC. There are more details here.

Now that .nyc is available, we wonder which big publishing house will take advantage of it first.
