New York Connection for Two Honorees into Country Radio Hall of Fame

Country Music doesn’t have an outlet in New York today. But that wasn’t the case in decades past.

Charlie Cook was the assistant program director ( under Ed Salamon) at WHN/1050 in the late 1970s.  Cook also had a short stint as program director at Country 103.5/WYNY in 1992.

Cook is being enshrined in the Country Music Hall of Fame. He’ll be in the Class of 2011 along with Dene Hallam.

Hallam was a programming giant who made his imprint at WHN, serving as program director from 1981 to 1983.
